Jay Garfinkel is a Fine art photographer, television producer, director and writer.
Garfinkel worked as a studio photographer shooting magazine covers and exhibit prints.
in 1987 he was invited to join the Arts Club of Washington. Garfinkel moved out of the studio to take up video and documentary photography assignments. During this period he produced 10 one-hour documentaries commissioned by the Library of Congress. Garfinkel shot photo documentary essays of the Dead Sea, Basques living in remote villages of the Pyrenees, Bedouins in Petra, woman in Israel combat units, Independence Day celebrations in the Dominican Republic, street photography in Shanghai and Beijing. His photographs have been exhibited at the National Press Club. Garfinkel is a member of the Jerusalem Press Club.
